What Are The Criteria for Obesity Operation?

There are some criteria for patients who want to undergo bariatric(obesity) surgery. These criteria can be listed as follows:

  • Age between 20-65
  • Body mass index above normal values and no additional disease
  • If there is an additional disease (diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, asthma, polycystic ovary syndrome, severe joint problems), body mass index (BMI) value of 35-40kg / m2
  • Body mass index (BMI) between 30-35 kg / m2 in difficult-to-control diabetes
  • Individuals who have previously had any diet with personal effort
  • Individuals who will come to follow-up examinations in the post-operative period and use the recommended support and drugs
  • Individuals without any substance addiction

The criteria for people who are not fit for surgery are as follows:

  • Alcohol or drug addiction
  • Stomach cancer disease
  • Smoking
