What is Sleeve Gastrectomy Operation?
In tube gastrectomy surgeries known as “Sleeve Gastrectomy”, it is aimed to reduce the stomach volume and thus to provide a feeling of satiety with much less food. For this purpose, a certain part of the stomach is removed surgically and then a tubular stomach is left. In addition, the hunger-stimulating hormone secreting part of the stomach is removed, so the patient does not feel a sense of hunger.
With this operation, only food intake is restricted. As the absorption of foods continues in the same way, the patient does not need to take additional vitamin or mineral supplements from the outside.
After surgery, patients can easily feel full after a small amount of food intake and after a while, this feeling of satiety turns into a loss of appetite. Total food intake is significantly reduced and 80-90% of the excess weight is lost within a few years after surgery.
